Roads and Alleys

In recent years, the City of The Colony has done quite a bit to deal with the road and alley infrastructure, but the residents have told me time and again that there are still many areas in our City that simply need to be addressed.  This is no different than when I was on Council previously, but some of these roads and alleys are now a decade older, and in worse shape than ever.

As I go door-to-door in this campaign, I have had many residents take me back to their alley to show me how bad they have become.  I have driven streets that are in great need of repair or replacement.  This has to be a greater priority than it has been, even though I know that City staff and Council have tried to work down the ever-growing list of street and alley priorities.

With the additional revenues that we are seeing with all the influx of new business, we need to try to go deeper into the priority “waiting list” for this important infrastructure.  It will require additional funding, and may require that we look to outsource the work to multiple contractors to bring a quicker response and resolution.

One last note is that I do understand that materials and supplies are suffering from shortages, which also leads to higher costs.  This is why we need leadership on our City Council that can properly manage this to balance out what can be accomplished, and to clarify what is simply not feasible or too costly.  And, we have to add citizen input and age of the infrastructure to the decision factors, so that the roads and alleys that are the oldest and most damaged get properly prioritized, and that the priority waiting list get regularly evaluated and re-evaluated.

As your Councilman, I promise to be available to you to come view your issue – to drive and walk your street, your alley!
